Danny's Only Wish

P      R      A     Y
Buddy peeked through the doorway inside a hospital.
He noticed his friend, Danny weeping beside his bed.
Buddy sat next to him and tried to cheer him up.
"I am afraid," Danny cried. "I have surgery and I might die."
Buddy grabbed his friend's hand and assured him he would live.
Buddy handed Danny a get well greeting card.
Danny noticed that the whole class signed the card.
Danny reached for a note on top of his dresser.
He handed the note to Buddy.
"Please show this," Danny pleaded, "to the whole class."
Danny wrote a little request, "please pray for me?"
Buddy promised his friend that the whole class will pray for him.
One week later, the school bell rang.
All the kids rushed to their classrooms.
Room 112 was very quiet.
Buddy and the rest of the class sat and waited for the right moment.
The teacher stood nearby and stared at the clock.
Moments later, the classroom door opened.
Danny walked slowly to his desk.
The whole class stood up and clapped their hands.
A banner hung overhead with the message,
"WELCOME BACK, DANNY!"
Danny stood in front of the class,
and tried to hold back the tears.
Danny scanned the whole room and proudly,
thanked the class for all the prayers.

Danny's Only Wish

Buddy peered through the doorway inside a hospital.
He noticed his friend, Danny weeping beside his bed.
Buddy sat next to him and tried to cheer him up.
"I am afraid," Danny exclaimed, "I have surgery tomorrow."
Buddy grabbed his friend's hand and assured him everything would be fine.
Buddy handed Danny a get well greeting card.
Danny noticed his whole class signed the card.
Before Danny could react, Buddy handed him a gift.
Two tickets to a basketball game next week.
Danny's face turned sour.
He explained to Buddy his surgery will prevent him
from attending the game.
"No, no," Buddy answered, "you're going to be fine."
Danny reached for a sheet of paper on top of the dresser.
He handed it to Buddy.
"Please show this," Danny pleaded, "to the whole class."
Buddy studied the sheet for a moment and noticed
Danny wrote a little poem.
"I have only one wish," Danny proclaimed, "that you pray for me."
Buddy reached over and gave Danny a big hug.
Buddy assured his friend, the whole class will pray for him.
Danny's little poem.
He prayed in the morning, he prayed in the night,
He wanted his God, to help him win this fight.
The pain was unbearable and the future seemed gone.
But somehow he knew, God would help him along.
One week later, the school bell rang.
All the kids dispersed into their classrooms.
Room 112 was quiet.
Buddy and the rest of the class sat and waited.
The teacher stood nearby staring at the clock.
Moments later, the classroom door opened and
Danny walked slowly inside.
The whole class stood up and clapped their hands.
A banner hung overhead with the message,
WELCOME BACK, DANNY!
Danny stood in front of the class and tried to hold back the tears.
He scanned the whole room and proudly thanked the class for praying.
