Ode to Writers

Today, I set myself a goal.
I'll craft the words that will show.
I created a story that's engaging and fun.
You'll enjoy the characters, every single one.
I'll write about a funny new tale.
It's about a lovable talking whale.
I'll add in a silly white goose.
And I'll write like I'm Dr. Seuss.
But suddenly, I have bad luck.
My mind goes blank and I'm stuck.
Now I am in a state of shock.
I got a case of writer's block.
No problem, I'm going to still write.
I won't stop, until I got it right.
I'll use words that'll dazzle their mind.
And put the main character in a bind.
Now it's finally over, my story is complete.
I'm jumping for joy, this is a huge feat.
I'm finally finished and I feel great.
And not once, did I procrastinate.

Which Book?

Pete picked up six books from the library.
He placed the books on his desk.
He sat down and pondered which book to read first.
Suddenly the first book popped up.
"Pick me," shouted Book one.
"Look inside, it's full of adventure."
Pete heard another voice.
He looked up and noticed Book two edged forward.
"Don't listen to him," Book two replied.
"My book is funny, you'll laugh out loud."
The third Book stood up and came forward.
"Read me," cried Book three.
"My book is about dinosaurs."
"Wait a minute," Book four hollered.
"My book is better," Book four proclaimed.
"You can read about your favorite animals."
The fifth Book stepped forward.
"Examine mine!" Book five exclaimed.
"It's about your favorite hero."
The sixth Book took his turn.
"Don't forget about me," Book six replied.
"This book is written by your favorite author?"
WHICH BOOK SHALL PETE CHOOSE?
Which book would you choose?

Bald man wanted to fly

There was a bald man who wanted to fly.
I don't know why, he wanted to fly?
He wouldn't tell me why.
There was a bald man who bought a kite.
He tossed the kite in the air,
hoping it would take flight.
He bought the kite so he can fly.
I don't know why he wanted to fly?
He wouldn't tell me why.
There was a bald man, who bought a hot air balloon.
He climbed on-board, so he could reach the moon.
He bought the balloon to replace the kite.
He bought the kite so he can fly.
I don't know why he wanted to fly?
He wouldn't tell me why.
There was a bald man who bought a airplane kit.
He assembled the kit and hope he could fit.
He bought the kit to replace the balloon.
He bought the balloon to replace the kite.
He bought the kite so he can fly.
I don't know why he wanted to fly?
He wouldn't tell me why.
There was a bald man who built a space ship.
He tried to fly the ship at a air strip.
He built a space ship to replace the plane.
He bought the plane to replace the balloon.
He bought the balloon to replace the kite.
He bought the kite so he can fly.
I don't know why he wanted to fly?
He wouldn't tell me why.
There was a bald man who promised his bride,
he would give her the moon.
He was better off to play her a tune.
So they can go on their honeymoon.

Share a Smile

It's time to get up and go.
Share a smile and say hello.
Don't stop till the day is done.
Tell all your friends, this is fun.
Take a walk across the street.
Greet everyone that you meet.
Wear a smile like the sun.
Show the world, how it's done.
Wave your hand in the air.
Show the people everywhere.
You are there to say Hi.
Greet everyone who passes by.
Treat them all like a friend.
Lend a hand, when you can.
You'll find that it's really true.
It's the right thing to do.
So let's get up and go.
Share a smile and say hello.
Don't stop till the day is done.
Tell all your friends, this is fun.

Kids

They smile and cheer,
they have so much fun.
They run and catch,
they play with everyone.
They wiggle and twist,
they're funny in all they do.
They skip and jump,
they ride their bikes too.
They see and touch,
they always look around.
They yell and scream,
they make so many sounds.
They giggle and laugh,
with old friends and new.
They fight and fall,
they get dirty too.
They have so much fun,
they are a joy to see.
They are the ones,
that bring out the kid in me.

OH YES, OH NO

It was the day before Father's day.
Jimmy thought his dad would love to receive a gift.
So he went to the bookstore to purchase a book.
"Oh, Yes!" Jimmy declared, "I found a great book."
He pulled out his wallet and cried, "Oh No!"
Jimmy lost his twenty dollar bill.
"What am I going to do?" Jimmy wondered.
Then, Jimmy had a bright idea.
"I will borrow the money from my best friend."
"Oh, YES!" Jimmy yelled.
Jimmy went up to his friend and shook his hand.
"You are my best friend." Jimmy declared.
Bobby looked at his friend Jimmy, suspiciously.
"What do you want now, Jimmy?"
Jimmy pleaded with his friend.
"I need twenty dollars," Jimmy added.
Bobby began to laugh.
"You still owe me twenty dollars from last week."
"Oh, No!" Jimmy wailed.
"What am I going to do now?"
Jimmy continued to stroll down the neighborhood.
He spotted a twenty dollar bill near a bush.
"Oh, Yes!" Jimmy shouted.
Jimmy picked up the bill and it was dripping wet.
"Oh, No!" Jimmy cried.
Jimmy ran home and used a hair dryer.
He waited patiently for the money to dry.
He looked up at the clock and noticed it was past six PM.
"Oh, No!" Jimmy wailed. "The store is closed."
The next morning, Jimmy walked inside his dad's house.
'I am really sorry, I didn't get you a gift."
His father didn't say a word. He gave his son a hug.
They took a stroll at the park and sat  on the park bench.
They went back inside to eat and watch TV.
"Do you know what I like best about Father's Day?"
his father asked.
"It's not a card or a gift I am looking for,"
his father added.
"But spending the time with my own son."
Tears went down Jimmy's face.
"OH, Yes!" Jimmy cried.
"HAPPY FATHER'S DAY."

Choose Any Book

Jimmy burst through the kitchen, darted past his mom
and ran out the door. "Where are you going, son?"
"I am off to the library," Jimmy shouted.
Jimmy took a trip to the children book section.
He searched shelf after shelf for a great book to read.
Buddy came along carrying a handful of books.
"Check out the fiction section," Buddy said.
"They're all classics, you'll enjoy them," Buddy added.
Jimmy tried the next aisle,
Cathy strolled by carrying a bag full of books.
"You should check out the non-fiction area," Cathy said.
"So many good books to choose from," Cathy added.
Jimmy browsed through the whole section.
Wally stood nearby and greeted his friend.
"Try the poetry section," Wally suggested.
"I know you'll enjoy reading poems."
Jimmy continued to search down every aisle.
Pete walked past carrying a stack of books.
"Try the "staff favorite"  shelves," Pete suggested.
"You're sure to find plenty to choose from."
Jimmy scanned the whole section and his eyes lit up.
He caught a glimpse on a book from his favorite author.
"There it is," Jimmy replied. "The book I want to read."

A matter of trust

You counted on me, to get the job done.
You saw what I did, I made it look fun.
With so much energy, I brought to the place.
I made a difference, with a smile on my face.
You saw that I cared, and I became your friend.
I built that trust and made things amend.
But nestled in my mind, was the lies they said.
I told you the truth, but you believed them instead.
So the trust didn't last and the truth you never knew.
You saw all the trouble, but the lies were not true.
The choice you made, you didn't have to do.
But you let me go, when I was there for you.
Maybe someday soon, we'll be friends again.
Put the past behind and let the trust begin.
I can always wonder, what might have been.

On your mark, get set... Read

Buddy is so excited,
 to tell everyone.
He's going to the library,
 to have some fun.
He discovered a place,
where you can always find.
A variety of books,
that will captivate your mind.
Buddy is on hand,
 for the summer read.
He's looking for books,
 that he's going to need.
With so much to choose,
he couldn't pick just one.
He picked out twenty,
and he wasn't done.
Buddy found a awesome book,
on a spine tingling tale.
A non-fiction book,
about a mammoth whale.
He read a tearful story,
on a long lost dog.
And a fact filled book,
on a slimy little frog.
On your mark, get set, read,
is the summer's reading plan.
So visit your local library,
and sign-up when you can.
Bring along all your friends,
and take a good look.
There is a great selection,
so check out a book.

The word " Can't"

I said the words I can't,
not once but countless more.
When you think about it,
you said those words before.
The thoughts we have,
are from words we heard.
Nothing is achieved,
when it's a negative word.
The moment you say I can't,
those two words take you down.
It never lifts you up,
or turn things around.
It may become a habit,
and even sometimes a chant.
But we should never ever say,
the two words, I can't.

Mother's Day Poem

She brings you hope,
in place of fear.
She brings you light,
to make it clear.
She shows you love,
with praise and cheers.
She lifts your heart,
and wipes the tears.
She makes you laugh,
when you're feeling sad.
She cares for you,
when life looks bad.
With a loving heart,
and a friendly smile.
She makes you feel,
it was all worthwhile.
In times of trouble,
she comes to you.
She calms you down,
and helps you through.
So whatever the need,
you will always find.
You have a mother,
who is helpful and kind.
